Privacy Policy

Last updated 12 October 2026

Darsy connects students and parents in Egypt with IGCSE tutors. This policy covers the Darsy mobile app and this website. Darsy is operated by Omar Azar, Egypt; for any privacy question or request, contact [email protected].

Darsy is used by people under 18. If you are under 18, please read this with a parent or guardian. Parents can create and manage their child's account.

What we collect

DataWhy
Name, email address, phone number, passwordTo create and secure your account, and so tutors and students can contact each other about a booking. Passwords are hashed.
Profile details — role, profile photo, gender, city and district, emergency contactTo show the right parts of the app, filter search results and arrange in-person sessions. Most are optional.
Students: school year, school name, date of birthTo match students to the right level of teaching and apply the rules for under-18s.
Tutors: subjects, levels, rates, availability, biography, identity document, payout detailsTo list the tutor in search, verify their identity, and pay their earnings.
Addresses for in-person sessionsSo both sides know where a session is. Shared with the other person only once the booking is paid.
Messages, images, reviews, reports and blocksTo deliver your messages, show reviews on a tutor's profile, and let our team review reports. A person you report or block is not told.
Bookings, attendance, payments, refunds and wallet balanceTo run your bookings and keep financial records. We never receive or store your card number.
InstaPay receipts you upload, with the sender name and reference on themTo find your transfer in our account and confirm your booking. Seen only by Darsy staff who confirm payments, and kept with our financial records.
Device token, IP address and technical logsTo send notifications you have allowed, keep the service running and limit abuse.
Crash and error reportsTo fix faults. They hold technical details, your device model and system version, and your account's internal ID — not your name, email address or messages.

What we do not do

Who we share it with

Only with the service providers needed to run Darsy, and only what each one needs:

Other users see what a booking needs: a tutor sees the student's name and booking, a student sees the tutor's profile, and parents see their children's bookings. We will disclose information if Egyptian law requires it, or where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect someone's safety.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Payment and booking records are kept for seven years after the transaction, because tax and accounting rules require it. A tutor's identity document is stored privately and deleted when the account is deleted.

Deleting your account and your rights

You can delete your account in the app: Profile → Account → Delete account, or without the app from the account deletion page. This removes your profile, personal details, messages, images, profile photo and any identity document. Payment and booking records are retained as described above, with your name removed where we are able to do so. Deletion cannot be undone.

You can also ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it: email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. A parent or guardian can ask on behalf of someone under 18.

Security and changes

Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted, and access to the database is restricted. We will tell affected users promptly if a breach puts their data at risk. If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
